N-butane maleic anhydride has entered a rapid development period
recently, due to the rising price of domestic pure benzene, the cost pressure of traditional benzene oxidation maleic anhydride has been increasing, and the profit has been greatly affected. In contrast, the cost advantage of n-butane maleic anhydride, which originally accounted for a relatively small market share, has gradually become the focus of market attention. Insiders said that with the commissioning of the n-butane maleic anhydride plant under construction this year, n-butane maleic anhydride is entering a rapid development period
fuel efficiency can be increased by 6% to 8%. Maleic anhydride is a commonly used important organic chemical raw material, which is widely used in the production of unsaturated polyester resin, coatings, etc. According to different raw material routes, maleic anhydride production is mainly divided into benzene oxidation and n-butane oxidation. N-butane oxidation is the main method of maleic anhydride production in foreign countries, while benzene oxidation is the main method of maleic anhydride production in China. Since the new century, China's maleic anhydride industry has continued to develop at a high speed. The output reached about 800000 tons in 2012, which is 5 times higher than the elongation of 20 parts of materials, which can be above 1000%. However, domestic pure benzene is in short supply and has been dependent on imports for a long time, and the price has been running high, resulting in the high price of maleic anhydride produced by benzene oxidation
in recent years, with the localization of relevant technologies, especially the increase of natural gas transmitted from west to East, the use of Civil liquefied gas as fuel has decreased significantly, and most of it has been extended to the chemical industry. However, the downstream of n-butane has not been developed, and the development of n-butane oxidation maleic anhydride continues to accelerate. It is reported that in Shandong Province, which is rich in liquefied gas resources, four n-butane oxidation maleic anhydride units will be put into operation by the end of this year, with a production capacity of about 300000 tons/year; By the end of 2014, the new production capacity was nearly 400000 tons/year. As of 2010, only Lanzhou Petroleum, Karamay and Xinjiang Turpan Hami petroleum have used n-butane oxidation to produce maleic anhydride in China
an important factor for the accelerated development of maleic anhydride by n-butane oxidation is the obvious cost advantage. It is estimated that the n-butane maleic anhydride consumes about 1.1 tons of n-butane per ton, and the raw material cost excluding tax is 7500 yuan (ton price, the same below). Benzene consumption per ton of maleic anhydride produced by benzene oxidation is about 1.2 tons. According to the current price of benzene hydrogenation including tax of about 9000 yuan, the cost of raw materials excluding tax is about 9200 yuan. The raw material cost difference between the two routes is nearly 1700 yuan. According to the data provided by relevant chemical design institutes, the processing cost of benzene oxidation maleic anhydride is about 1000 yuan, and the processing cost of n-butane maleic anhydride is about 1600 yuan, which is included in the cost of fuel consumption. The total cost of benzene oxidation maleic anhydride is more than 12000 yuan, while the total cost of n-butane maleic anhydride is more than 9400 yuan, and the price difference between the two is 3000 yuan. The cost advantage of n-butane maleic anhydride that is easy to degrade under the conditions of high temperature and high humidity is very obvious
judging from the future trend of the two raw materials, at present, the global supply of liquefied gas is sufficient, the deep processing of liquefied gas is transferred from the use of olefin components to alkane components, and the downstream by-product is high-purity n-butane. Therefore, using n-butane to build a supporting maleic anhydride plant has great resource advantages, and the price of n-butane is unlikely to rise significantly in a short time
in contrast, most of pure benzene comes from ethylene cracking and other devices in oil refining. At present, the international trend of light-weight ethylene cracking raw materials is increasing, the supply of pure benzene is bound to decrease, the price will continue to rise, and the price of hydrogenated benzene will continue to rise with pure benzene. The price of raw benzene will remain high for a long time. Therefore, n-butane maleic anhydride and benzene oxidation maleic anhydride will also maintain a large price difference trend for a long time
Another important reason why n-butane maleic anhydride is favored by the market is that this production method has more environmental advantages than benzene oxidation method. Benzene is a serious carcinogen, which is a harmful substance with strict emission control. The harm of n-butane is low, and the tail gas and washing water can be discharged according to the standard after treatment. The n-butane maleic anhydride meets the requirements of cleaner productionin addition, n-butane maleic anhydride is only one of the chains of liquefied gas deep processing products, which can form an industrial chain with alkylation, butadiene, methyl ethyl ketone, SEC butyl acetate, etc., and all components in liquefied gas will also be more fully utilized. Its ability to balance and resolve market risks is unmatched by benzene oxidation maleic anhydride
it is understood that most of the alkylation units that have been built or are under construction are concentrated in Shandong, among which Qifa chemical and Kede chemical have alkylation units. After the maleic anhydride unit operates normally, all the n-butane produced by alkylation will be used by themselves. The butadiene unit invested and built by Qixiang Tengda chemical in the early stage can produce more than 500 tons of clean gas per day. In order to make use of the rich butane resources in the clean gas, the company also built a maleic anhydride unit with n-butane as raw material. Shandong I
Nuo Chemical Co., Ltd. uses the remaining liquefied gas of the original 100000 t/a sec butyl acetate unit to produce maleic anhydride
Chang Zhijian, a senior engineer of Tianjin Chemical Design Institute, believes that due to the price of raw materials, some small-scale enterprises without upstream and downstream benzene oxidation maleic anhydride are likely to withdraw from the market. The next 3-5 years will be a period of rapid development of n-butane maleic anhydride, and the proportion of benzene oxidation maleic anhydride production will gradually decline. This trend is similar to the development trend of maleic anhydride industry abroad after the 1970s
